Remove co-name in the credit card account

Hello,

I'm so glad to find the web site. So grateful for it!

My Mom and I have jointed a credit card account for years(before marriage). I've been married for 11 yrs. How can I remove my name from the account which has balanced. My Mom has been paying regularly.

Please advise me.

Thanks so much

Re: Remove co-name in the credit card account

First I'd discuss it with your mother. She may have a good reason to keep it as a joint account. Then, if you'll proceed, contact the credit card company and tell them you wish to be removed from the card. If they give you a hard time about it, then you and your mother will have to cancel the card and she'll have to get one in her own name.
