Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Repaying Borrowed Money
I was gracious enough to help my boyfriend pay off some traffic tickets (warrants) and truck payments which totaled up to $1700. Well, after having broken up I'm not so sure that he is going to repay me as he promised. Can I take him to small claims court to ensure that he repays me the money that he owes?

Re: Repaying Borrowed Money
You can, once he violates the terms of the agreement.
You will need proof that you LOANED the money, and didn't give it to him. You will also need proof of the terms of the loan, and that he hasn't repaid it in other ways.
If you are unsuccessful, chalk it up to a life-lesson-learned, and next time make sure that any loans are in writing, including the terms of repayment.
