Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

repossession of auto with attached property

I have repossesed an auto I sold where the buyer quit paying for before the debt was satisfied. The buyer had installed a radio and new (used) camper top. Must I return them or are they now a part of the vehicle? What is the statute that covers this area?

Re: repossession of auto with attached property

If the property is attached to the vehicle, it becomes part of the vehicle. Just like fancy wheels and new tires. The statutes covering those questions are in the Texas Property Code. You'd probably want to go to your county law library and look in the annotated statutes, since the annotations are the case law that expands upon and clarifies the bare statute.
