Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

rights of living owner of house

If two people who are not married or co-habitating buy a house and one dies, is the survivng friend responsible for the debts ( charge cards etc of the decesed?

The debts are fairly minmial and were incurred before the decision to buy the house.

I realise that the house debts are the survivors responsibilty but how about others?

The two people are just old friends.

Except for the house, the friend has no responsibility for the other debts.

The survivor is not responsible for the debts of the decedent.

The decedent's interest in the house will pass to the decedent's heirs at law unless the decedent has a will or an unfiled warranty deed giving their interest to the survivor.
