Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

what are my rights regarding misuse of credit card by authorized user (after sep

my husband moved out in september of 2003. we had a debt of

around $10,000. i paid half and he agreed to transfer the other

half into a card in his name. the card was in my name with him as

an authorized user. he then proceeded to spend between $2 -

3,000 on it. i was not aware that he was using it at all. at some

point he stopped paying on it. it is now closing in on $10,000.

is there any action i can take at all? or am i responsible for his

dinners with his girlfriend, the camera he bought her, etc?

Re: what are my rights regarding misuse of credit card by authorized user (after

You are responsible since you didn't take his name off as an authorized user. Worse, since you're still married, unless you publish public notice that you will no longer be responsible for his debts as of the date of publication, you'll be on the hook (along with him) for all the debts he's run up. Those are community debts of the marriage.
