Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Security system contract

Brinks security system installed, after one year no longer needed - house being sold. At time of installation wife signed what she thought was a job compeltion ticket or something similar. Brinks states that she signed a three year contract and that we own for remaining two years. (about $800) We were never told that we were signing a three year contract. Or we liable for the two remaining years? Again no one from Brinks disclosed or discussed a three contract. Prior to this installation, we had used Brinks for about 10 years in another location.

Re: Security system contract

Ask them for a copy of it. Read it, determine if it is her signature. If that is what she signed, then she had a responsibility to read what she was signing. If you have questions regarding the content of the document, have an attorney review it for you.
