just served papers

I have just been served papers for a car that was repo--name removed--in '05. The credit union involved is sueing for $7800.00, $2600.00 of which is atty fees and court costs. My husband left me and this is why I couldn't pay for the car. He actually had possession of the vehicle when it was repo--name removed-- They sent a questionaire for me to complete before coming to court basically just asking me to confirm that contract was breached and they are entitled to the amount asked for. My question, what can I do now. I don't have the money to pay because I am living on only my income, I have only my home and car as valuable possessions, is a judgement inevitable?

If you hire a consumer attorney, you may be able to win the case. There are many burdens the finance company has to prove they are entitled to the money and often they are unable to meet their burden. Without an attorney, it is likely that a judgment will be entered against you.
