Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Service Agreement Transfer

My security monitoring agreement with Company X was bought out by ADT. I never agreed to this and ADT never did anything more than begin billing me. They didn't provide yard signs, window stickers, or service. Eventually they billed me $96 for termination of my agreement without 30 days notice. My argument is that I never had an agreement with ADT nor have they been able to provide me with one after multiple requests. ADT turned the debt over to a collection agency. Am I legally obligated to pay them ?

Re: Service Agreement Transfer

Maybe. Read your agreement with Company X. Does it include their successors and assigns? Did the contract with X include an early termination penalty? You might want to have an attorney read your original contract, but it will more than likely cost more than the $96 you are being billed.
