Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

what is the SOL on an abstract judgement and are they able to be removed

My mom is an elderly woman and just found out that she has a debt with Providian. She is now being sued for the debt. Could you please let me know if there is anyway this judgement can be removed or if there is an SOL on this judgement.

Just found out? She must have been received a copy of the lawsuit at the time it was filed with the court. If she did not, the judgment is not effective and can be appealled. That costs some money. Otherwise, the abstract stays on her record for at least 10 years from the date of recording. Her age or condition is not a factor. There is no such thing as a senior citizen exemption. Good Luck.
