stop payment on chekc

I recently had my hair done at a salon. I was very specific and even presented pictures as to what I wanted and was very specific in telling the stylist what I did not want. The stylist totally hacked my hair up. I was very upset and went back the next day to see if someone could fix it. No one was available. I called and she told me to come in only to have another stylist fix my hair and charge me again. I felt this was wrong. I put a stop payment on the check when the stylist found out she submitted it to the county attorney and is trying to sue me. Do I have any rights at all?

Its a difficult proposition to prosecute a person for a stop-payment check. This is a lot different than issuing a check without sufficient funds to cover it. The county attorney may not accept the case, but if they do and you refuse to pay the original amount, plus a LOT of other fees, you will be arrested. The sylist has a good chance of prevailing in a suit for the service fees. The salon performed their part and you did not. Hair cuts are more art than science and you'll have a difficult time making your case when your hair has grown back the way you like it. This is why people don't sue salons for bad hair cuts. Your hair will have fixed itself, but they will still be out their fee. Save yourself some a lot of time and trouble and pay the money. Don't do business there anymore.
