Stop Payment on Payroll Check

My contract employer stopped payment on my check and has refused to pay me for my services as a nurse. She is claming discrepincies in billing although I have numerous checks from them billed the exact same way. I have contacted the DA but they only want to deal with NSF checks not Stop Payment. Filing in small claims court will take forever. Is there anything I can do to get the money they owe me for payroll? The check was in the amount of $1250.00 and they still owed me $250.00 outside of that.

contact the Texas workforce commission...but there is no swift solution...
