Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

I am being sued and cannot afford an attorney. How can I submit a written answer to the Plaintiffs original petition? I also don't have transportation to appear in court. I want to pay the debt off, but need to make some type of arrangements that evidently the petitioner could or would not accept.

just write the court and be sure to deny the claim as made since most claims include interest, late charges etc which are NOT owed...but expect the court to accept the personal difficulty of no transportation...however, frequently the pettioner does not follow up..if they do, they get a judgment
