Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

being sued

I am being sued for 4300. 00 by Capital One. I received a hearing notice to appear in court in 30 days. I don't want a judgement on my record. Will they let me make arangements for payments? I called a lawyer and he said he would charge me alot and couldn't guarantee they would drop the judgement. Im confused and can't afford a lawyer. I want to pay what I owe but I can't in one lump sum. Please help!!!

Re: being sued

First a lawyer cannot guarantee success..but you can answer and I am sure you do not know what the total charges are for...as they may have late fees, etc..We charge as little as a thousand on flat fee basis..and have had some success...but whateveryou do..write an answer denying the accuracy of the amount claim and swear before a notary public that it is not accurate. Then call the lawyers..tell them you will not consent to a judgment but can pay "???...$50 amonth?...good luck
