Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Being sued for credit card non payment
Close to three years ago my wife had a discrepency with a credit card company. She contacted them, and didn't get the problem resolved. So, she didn't pay the difference of the amount. The credit card company started calling her at work, numerous times. The gentleman was rude and had my wife crying at work. We have witnesses to this. My wife agreed to pay the original amount over a period of time, but he would have nothing of it. It had to be all paid at one time, and then. Well, we didn't do it, and now she is being sued. She doesn't work anymore and I don't see her working anymore the rest of her life. I guess my question is, what can they do? And how can we get them to agree to the original payment and let us pay it out over a 6 month period? Any help would be appreciated. We want to pay them, but don't like be screwed with their stupid mis-charges and increased interest.
