Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Being sued over credit card
I have a notice of civil suit for a credit card account that is in mine & my mother's name. I called court & verified it, what are my options in handling this matter? If a judgement is made against us, what exactly can they do? Called attorney office handling the case & they will not negotiate & come to an agreement that is satisfactory in my mind. Account was charged off in 3/2006. So basically what do I need to do, what actions will they take to try & collect if they win, and how exactly do we keep from getting our bank accounts garnished? Also, since the card company has already taken a loss on the account, who exactly controls the amount of money that could settle this matter, the attorney?
Thank You
