Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

I am being sued by a Credit Union for a car loan that I cosigned for. The loan originated in 98 and the Collection Lawyer has had it since 2003.I just now recieved a summons to appear in court in Indiana but I reside in Texas and always have. The paperwork was done threw fax. Can they sue me out of state of my residence? Would the statute of limitations be for Texas or Indiana? Should I get a lawyer in Texas or Indiana? The car was repossessed and resold in 2002. I'm being sued for for the difference which is 3297.51 plus interest of 8% (2106.79) totaling 5404.30. I was not on the vehicle title but my ex who was the primary on the loan was on the title.

To accurately answer your questions, I would have to see the agreement you signed. Offhand, I think they're just trying to scare you into paying something that you really don't have to pay - probably because they cannot get your ex-husband to pay. If you have a copy of the agreement you signed, I would be glad to take a look at it for you.
