Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Being SUed for unpaid Credit Cards
A few years ago my sister stopped paying her credit cards because she was in over her head. She was served from a colleciton agency. They said that she needed to contact them for a court date. Now she is worried, what should she do and what could possibley happen?

Re: Being SUed for unpaid Credit Cards
If she hires an attorney who handles these kinds of cases, they are defensible. Often the collection agency cannot document and prove their case. Also, the statute of limitations for suit on a debt in Texas is four years. If she stopped paying more than four years ago, then they are barred by law from collecting it. She should hire an attorney.
