Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
I switched doctors because my previous doctor could not keep her billing straight, and I moved 20 miles away from her practice. I'ts been about 8 months since the last time I went to her. Yet, she continues to send me invoices about unpaid items. Several months ago, the balance got down to $40 or less, so to make peace, I paid it. Recently, I received yet another statement showing $175.00 due for services from 4/14/09. In fact, she shows two separate charges for the same day. I contacted by Insurance company and they say that she has been paid the contract rate for that visit and the payment is not reflected on the billing. I'm really frustrated that I continue to get bills from this doctor. I feel powerless. What can I do to stop her from sending me these bills? Do I have any legal recourse for inept billing systems?

No, you can't stop her from sending you bills.
Throw them away without opening them. Do this consistently, every time, and don't get angry.
You are not powerless, as long as you own a trash can.
