Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Telephone harrassment by creditors

I received a call yesterday from a collection agency. He asked to speak to my husband he wasn't home. He told me that he needed my husbands place of employment. Since we have had problems with certain debt collectors calling my husband at work I refused and he told me that was fine he would just need the payroll division of his employer then. He called back today and told me that by not providing that information I am breaking a federal law..Is this true, do I have to give them this information. If not what are my rights in dealing with this demand from them..

Re: Telephone harrassment by creditors

You do not have to give him any information. Get his address and write to the agency, telling them you want all subsequent contact by mail, and not telephone.
