Courts do not appoint attorneys in civil matters. Yes, you need to file an answer so that a default judgment is not taken against you. There are numerous ways to approach this problem, and suggest you start with a legitimate, non-profit credit counseling firm. Some attorneys will offer a brief free consultation to let you know what your alternatives are. If all this fails, go to the law library at your county courthouse to research. The librarian cannot give you legal advice, but will point you to the right books.
