Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Possible ID theft

I recently received two seperate phone calls from two seperate well known credit card companies on different dates. They indicated that if I would like to rebuild my credit?Of coursr I was elated to find out that some company was willing to help.So I gave them all my personal Info.as you would on an application.I forgot to mention that my husband had one of his credit cards stolen,it was maxed out so whoever took this card wasn't able to use the card.So I knew I applied for these cards,so I waited by the mail when the post man came each day. Finally I rec'd them and use them over a course of 4 months. One day I called the credit company and they asked me my SSN# and indicated that they could not talk to me.I also rec'd a call from the other one from their fraud dept.indicating this acct. was opened fraudulently.I did advise them the charges were mine and I had the card. They also verified my name and address, which was correct. They said an affidavit would soon arrive, still waiting.I've made all payments on time and more than what was asked. But they will not talk to me about the accounts but still receive statements each month.I intend to pay off all the debt in about 3 weeks which total about $800.Why won't they talk to me its my accts

Re: Possible ID theft

1. Never give out personal information to someone who calls you on the telephone, no matter who they say they are.

2. They follow the same rule about giving information over the telephone to strangers.

If you want information, write to them.
