Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Thirteen years ago we had a book store that went bust, in Oklahoma. Today we got a letter saying that we owe over $15,000 in sales taxes. Which is wrong because we weren't making any sales in the end. After the store went under we lived in that state for another four years before moving back to Tx. We had already closed the store and paid all taxes owed at that time. What do we do?

Write to them asking that they provide you with the details of how they arrrived at their figure. Explain that you dispute the tax and want to ascertain their basis for assessing it. Send the letter Return Receipt Requested.

Hope this helps.
