Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas
Time limits for Collectors
I have been contacted by a law firm that was hired by a collection agency. They say I owe I debt that I'm don't feel is mine. I want proof of this debt in the form of the signed credit agreement. How long do they (lawyers) have to repond to my request if any at all?

More than likely, they will not be able to produce a signed agreement. I handle these type cases and I have yet to see a signed agreement. The safest thing is to hire a lawyer to handle this for you.

They are not under any timetable until suit is filed.
