Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Is this unlawful?????

This guy calls me today and wants to collect a debt I have with a credit card company. He tells me that I would have to give him the information off of my check and have it post dated so they can keep the account open and not have it have a summons from the court.I did not send a check but gave infomation off of it. I also recorded the conversation on the phone lawfully because Texas is a one party state. He instructed me to give him the routing number off of the check but to give a fake account number so there would be at least something on file saying im making an effort to rectify the matter. I got him on tape repetedly saying to give a false number and to not to tell the secretary that was taking this information that it was a fake account. Is this unlawful ways of debt collecting?
