Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

un-paid unathorized credit usage

If someone uses your name and credit for a utility bill and then does not make payment, then the bill is sent to a credit agency, what are my rights? I did not give her permission to use my information and did not sign anything, yet I lived with her rent free for 4 months. How do I go about fixing this?

Re: un-paid unathorized credit usage

It will not be easy to fix. The first thing you have to do is start writing to the credit agency, the utility company, and any other credit or debt collection entities involved, stating that the account was opened in your name, without your knowledge or consent, and identify the proper person who is responsible. The letters should be sent by certified mail, return receipt requested.

There will be more correspondence. Rely on mail, and not the telephone, because a phone call does not leave a paper trail.
