Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Vehicle repossessed after divorce

Husband and I divorced. I had co-signed on a vehicle loan 3 years earlier. He was given this note and the vehicle in the divorce decree. He quit paying on vehicle note and it was repossessed and auctioned off. Now the loan company is trying to come after me for the deficiency since they can't find him. I do not have the money to pay. Am I liable for this even though he got the note and vehicle in the divorce decree? What should I do?

Re: Vehicle repossessed after divorce

You are responsible to pay. The loan company was not a party in your divorce and did not release you from your obligation to pay. You could file a motion for contempt against him if he has the money. Good Luck.
