Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Verbal Agreement

I entered a verbal agreement with

a former employee of mine for

furniture she was selling. The

agreement was for $2,200 which I

paid her in-full. She has deposited

the check into her account. Now

she is suing me for an additional

$520 in small claims court. I

explained to her that I have

already paid her what was owed

yet she continues to harass me at

work and with the lawsuit. To

prevent any further harassment I

even offered to return ALL the

furniture, at my expense, for my

money back. She is declining this

offer and continues her claims of

the additional monies owed. Any

suggestions?

Re: Verbal Agreement

Yes, file an answer to the lawsuit, or she will take a default judgment against you. Go to court with the original (or at least a true and correct notarized copy of the) cancelled check and any witnesses to the agreement you had for the furniture.
