wage garnishment

I live in the state of texas and i owe a payday loan from another state, (i got the loan online). they called me and threatened to garnishment my wages, can they do that. i work for the City Of houston and i really do not get paid much. what can my wages be garnished for in the state of texas.

Your wages can be garnisheed in Texas for child support, student loans, and taxes owed to the IRS.

Civil debt, such as a payday loan, can't touch your current wages.
