Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Wife sued by credit card company.

Wife had credit cards and lost job. Unemployed for 1 year. Now employed at much lower income. Served papers for suit. Last payment on card was 3 years 2 months ago. What, if any, options do we have?

Re: Wife sued by credit card company.

Need to file a legal response to the lawsuit, so that they do not take a default judgment. There is specific language, and it must be served on the opposing party. Since the statute of limitations has not expired, you may want to try to negotiate a reduction and payoff of the debt.

There may be other legal defenses, but you would need to consult an attorney. You may also have no assets that they can execute on, and thus want to do nothing. Bankruptcy could be a viable option as well.
