Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

wrongfull tax lien on propety

I recently discover that my house has 2 tax liens placed by the state of Texas, they are not mine they belong to someone whose name is identical but different ss#. I contact the state office and they told me I needed to hire an attorney to have it removed! I contacted an attorney and he stated that I am better off paying off the liens because the services were to expensive for this kind of legal matter.

Maybe not. Contact a few more lawyers, and see if someone will take it if the statute provides for reimbursement of attorney fees and damages. If not, spend a little time in the law library. You might be able to file a petition yourself.
