when does the 180 days start when sentenced to state jail in texas

You do get credit for any time you've served in the county jail before or after your sentencing, if that's what you mean. You just don't get the 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 credit the jail would give you on a county sentence. So if you've served 50 days in the county jail prior to being sentenced, and then you serve another 30 before TDCJ comes and gets you, on a 180 day sentence , you'd have 100 days left to serve at the state jail facility.
