Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
I have a 17 year old child living with me who is not a member of our family. In Texas it is legal to move out your home at 17 and it is not considered running away...nor do the parents have any legal rights. We want to take her with us on our family vacation through Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and Georgia. Is it legal to do so if her parents object?

You are correct that in Texas a 17 year old is not considered a runaway. There are numerous other issues to consider before crossing state lines, including the laws of the states in which you are travelling. Many states consider 18 years to be the cutoff age.
