Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
My 19 year old cousin was a first time offender and accepted a plea deal of 25 yrs for agg. robbery because the DA threatened him with 99 yrs. The psychiatrist at the prison said he never should have been sentenced to 25 years, that he was not a candidate for that much time. Is there anything we can do?

The psychiatrist is not a lawyer and should not be giving legal advice or make such comments. Your cousin had a lawyer who should have reviewed the case and helped your cousin make a sound decision. It depends on the facts of the case as to whether that is a bad bargain (although it is high. But, it could be just.)
