Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

17 year old daughter left the country without permission

My 17 year old daughter went to

mxico for the weekend with her 18

year old boyfriend without our

permission. Actually they were both

told that she absolutely could not go

and they went anyway. The boyfriend

recently joined the marines and is

waiting to leave for bootcamp. He

leaves in 2 or 3 weeks. Our daughter

has joined the navy but doesn't leave

for several weeks. My question is how

much (if any) trouble could the two of

them be in if we tried to file a

complaint or press charges against him

for taking her out of the country

without our permission? I am

submitting this question to criminal las

but in beleive it could also be military

law.

Re: 17 year old daughter left the country without permission

If she went willingly, I don't believe any state laws were violated. She is considered an adult under state law. I don't practice military law so I can't give you an educated answer on that subject matter, but I would be surprised if any military laws were broken.
