Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

My 15 year old daughter was sexually assaulted at school by another student, I do not know his age. We have sought medical treatment and a rape kit was obtained along with a police report. A detective is assigned her case. Upon discussing the case with the detective it appear since the perpatrator was a minor this could be dismissed if it is his first offense or receive probation if evidence was found. The detective also told me it could take up to 6 months to receive forenics from the lab because they are so back logged. What can I do?

The police are in the driver's seat as far as the prosecution of the criminal case. Check with them from time to time and let them know you're interested.

On the civil side of the docket, you can sue the little bastard who assaulted your child. YOU are in control of THAT case.
