Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

My 27 year old son has been arrested & charged with a Class B mis. possession of marijuna <2oz. His bond is 500$. He has never been to jail and has no prior record. Neither of us has ever been arrested so the processes, options, etc . are new to us. What are some possible options or where can I obtain free info on this process, options, etc.? I'm sure he will need an attorney and I would feel more comfortable being armed with some knowledge to aid me in hiring an attorney? Thanks, Mistery

Check out the website AVVO.com for lawyers in your area. There are many who have comments by clients (and the lawyers have zero control over the content of the comments so they are real.)

If you have not done so, you should bond him out ASAP.

Some counties are easier in giving out pretrial diversions which will allow him to get the case off his record in the future. (But, a lawyer needs to review the case first to ensure that the stop / search / seizure / arrest were lawful.)

Good luck!
