10 years Deferred Adjudication

My sister and I cashed checks from a company we both worked for in 1997. We were charges with forgery. All the money was ordered to be paid back.(restitution $22,000)We hired the same laywer and we received 10yrs deferred adjudication.My sister had her probation revoked. If one failed to pay her restitution then the other was liable. The total amount still had to be paid. I get off in April 2007 and her half is not paid. Is there a way I can get her half off of mine so, I will not have to pay ? and If not can I get any restituion that she paid applied towards what is remaining ? I would have been finished if she would not have gone to jail for probation being revoked. What happens if the total restitution is not paid ? Can I ask the Co. / victim's insurance to give a settlement instead? Please HELP !

My advice is to hire an attorney now, to determine where you stand in all of this. If you absolutely cannot afford to, then talk to your probation officer. The PO may not be accurate as to the law, but the PO WILL be able to tell you what position their office is going to take as to resitution, and whether they are going to ask for an extension or a revocation or a termination.
