Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
I am 17 years old, and on September 9, 2012 I was arrested along with another person at a Mesquite, Texas walmart for shoplifting. The total of the merchandise was $150, him having stole $140 worth, and I $10 worth. They decided to combine the two amounts, and charge us both. Since he is 16 he went to a juvenile center, me being 17 I went to jail. He receieved a punishment of 20 hours community service, and I have court on February 5, 2013. I am just curious as to what I should expect my consequences to be.

It is legally correct for you both to be charged for the full amount as you served as lookouts for each other.
You need a lawyer who can do the best possible to get you a pretrial diversion which will result in the dismissal of the charge and the opportunity to expunge it in the future.
