Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
I have a 17yr old that has been arrested for possession of a controlded substance and possession of stolen property. Am I responsible for obtaining him a lawyer or can he get a court appointed one? He will be 18 in a matter of weeks and since this is an ongoing issue with him I would prefer not to have to pay his lawyer cost.

The court will most like appoint a lawyer for him as he is considered an adult for criminal law purposes. He needs to be in school full time or working full time. He should bring proof of his financial status (not yours) with him to court.
