Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
accused of stealing
My 17 year old daughter was accused of stealing yesterday. She went into a local store in Houston, Tx after school to buy chips and the store clerk ask to search her purse, because he thought he saw her put something in her purse. My daughter agreed to let him search her purse but nothing was found. What are my 17 year old daughter rights?

Re: accused of stealing
Your daughter has the right to remain silent and force the State the prove this case against her. Since she consented to the search of her purse, she probably has no claim of an illegal search. However, I advise her to speak to no one about the case except a qualified criminal defense lawyer. All criminal cases are driven by the facts and a good defense lawyer will use all favorable facts to your daughter's advantage. Call a lawyer now to start building a strong case.
Re: accused of stealing
Based on what you have written, your daughter has the absolute right to remain silent and not say anything. Your daughter should seek the assistance of a local criminal defense law firm to assist in protecting your daughter's interest and rights. If my local criminal defense law firm can assist you with this legal issue or any other legal matter, please contact my legal assistant Jennifer ([email protected]) for an initial consultation.
