Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
My adult son agreed to take a plea instead of going to trial. Through out the course of waiting for a trial date- he was constantly told- the DA had no evidence but " heresay." He agreed to " no contest" and ever since he signed those papers- his whole life has gone down hill. He regrets not going to trial- can he appeal and if so ,does he have to appeal in a higher court?

He may be able to appeal, but his chances of success are probably not very good.
You should speak with a criminal defense attorney that handles appeals.
I am an Austin DWI Criminal Defense Lawyer but I know an appellate attorney I could refer you to if you would like to contact me for their contact information.
Time is of the essence, you must file a notice of appeal very quickly (so do not wait to contact an attorney).
Good Luck.
