There is no limit. A lawyer could use a process server or investigator to file an application and immediately obtain a subpoena for someone on say Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. The process server could serve it on the witness at say 10 p.m. on Sunday evening requiring that the witness appear at 8 a.m. the next morning.
