Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

I'm african american and 18 was hanging out with these 2 girls I just met and they had marijuana on them. We were driving my car and they offered to smoke with me and I said no I'm good. We hung out then later I dropped them off at one of their house. It was a late night so I couldn't see. I was driving and I received a phone call from them telling me they left the marijuana in my car right after that I saw a cops lights flashing. I pulled over hid it and talked to the cops they told me to take it up with the judge. Would the judge want a witness? Will I get a record? I need a defense

Hire a lawyer. YES - if you get convicted you will have a record. You will need to get your phone records for your lawyer so go ahead and do that now. (The lawyer will have to get them in admissible form but do it anyway.)

By hiding it, you technically possessed it. And, you have not stated how the cops ended up finding it. There could be a search issue (although if they smelled pot because of the earlier smoking, that is probable cause.)

Also, if you are clean, have a drug test which will be another nugget that will support your explanation.
