Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Aggravated Assualt w/deadly Weapon
My son was taken into custody and his bail was set at $50K. He doesn't have the money to put up the 10% ($5K) of the bail. He was under the assumption that he would have to be in jail for 50 days to cover the bail amount. I do not believe this to be true but I'm not sure. I know that fines levied on an offender work this way but not for making bail. Please provide me some assistance.

Re: Aggravated Assualt w/deadly Weapon
The time your son is in jail will not give him any credit towards his bond.
What can be done is a bond reduction hearing to try and have the bond reduced to an amount you can afford.
But know this... the State has 90 days from the day of his arrest obtain an indictment and if they can't do that within that time frame your son must be released.
You need a good attorney to help your son.
If I can be of any further help feel free to contact me.
I provide state wide criminal defense.
