Doing what I can!!

I agreed to a no contest plea for misdemeanor assault involving my wife and Have to serve 80 hrs community service and attend a batters intervention program for 6 mo's. I have kept all appointments with the probation officer and basically done all they have asked except come up with the money as I am retired and live on a modest pension, and so far am unable to find a job. My wife and I are still together and moved beyond this glitch(married 32 years) no bad history of violence of any kind! How can I get off Probation and get the court to set up a payment schedule I can live with?

You do not say how long you have been on probation. Has the probation term been completed except for the money? Have you discussed this with the PO? Often, the probation will be extended solely to finish paying fines etc. You should at least pay something each month -- even if it is $5. It demonstrates effort to the PO.
