Applying for PI license in Texas/question on bgd. checks

I am applying for my PI license in Texas. I paid the fee and checked the DPS database online for my records. There were no matches for my name, DOB, race, and sex. The offense was 20 years ago. Is this the same database that state investigators will check for deferred adjudications, etc? Or will they check all databases such as local, county, etc.? I was told that DPS was the primary record holder. I really want my license and wont get a second chance. Thank you!

Re: Applying for PI license in Texas/question on bgd. checks

You have been watching too much TV. While the DPS is the main source for a quick check of someone's background for private employers and "John Q" public, and some employers may use only this database out of ignorance, it is has been my experience the database is wrong more than it is right. Consequently, If it were me, I would use the local database as a third party who cannot get into DPS's fingerprint files. I would imagine, if this is Board of Private Investagators and Security they will have your fingerprint cards checked by DPS which is totally different, and if it is a private investigations firm, they will check local databases as well. Good Luck.
