Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

What do I do at arraignment?

I've been charged with falsifying a police report. Long story short I filed a false police report and 2 days later made a statement with an officer contradicting the false report. I haven't talked to any lawyers yet but I do have an arraignment hearing coming up tomorrow and I need to get a court appointed lawyer. It appears that they will ask me to make a plea but I don't want to until I can talk to a lawyer. What all do I need to do and what should I expect?

The most important thing you can do an an arraignment is show up on time and let them know you are there. At the beginning, they should call your name. Stand up and say "present". If you have not retained and attorney or been assigned a court appointed attorney tell them you need a lawyer.
