The punishment range is up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine. If this assault is involving family violence, there are a lot of other consequences you need to be made aware of. If you have no prior criminal record, the odds of getting jail time is low depending on the circumstances of the alleged assault. I would strongly suggest you hire an attorney to go over all of your options.
