Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Was arrested on May 23, 2010 for assault/married. Was arraigned a couple of weeks later in June 2010. Plead not gulity assigned court appointed attorney. Hearing was schedule for August case reset. At my request I wanted trial as soon as possible was reset for May 2011. May, came trial was reset until July 20, 2011. July 20, 2011 trial is once again reset with no apparent reason given, for October 2011. It will be 1 1/2 years soon, at what time will my case be heard? I'm innocent of all these charges and the defense has been ready for months...I was laid off when I got charge with the assault. Now I cannot get any employment because of the arrest record (public) I can't pass a background check and cannot even get hired at McDonalds if you can believe that. How much longer must I wait?

It depends on how busy the docket is. Ask your lawyer for a prediction because the lawyer would know best. Also talk to your lawyer about filing a motion for speedy trial. You DL not have the right to be heard before other cases equally as old but if they are trying more recently filed cases it is time for yours to be hears.
