Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
I was arrested for theft of $50-500 and the total was $109. I am 18 and I have an otherwise clean record. I am wondering what I can expect my punishment to be and what route I should go to be able to eventually get this off my record. I am hoping for some deffered program but I do not know much about them and how to qualify for one and what they entail and have yet to talk to a lawyer about my options, but any advice would be appreciated.

If you want it totally off your record, expungement, then the case needs to be dismissed or found not guilty. Might be possible to get case dismissed with some pre-trial diversion. Deferred will result in no conviction on record but records will still exist. You can file a non-dislcosure so ordinary person can't see records, but government agencies will still be able to.
